The 2020 Old Growth Classic is cancelled, and thank you for supporting this campaign! Winners have been notified and will be announced shortly.

Due to a number of COVID-19-related concerns, the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz team has made the hard decision to cancel our annual gravel race currently scheduled for this October, the Old Growth Classic.

In addition to our team’s own concerns about participant safety, our hand was forced when one of the permitting agencies we work with for this event decided that they are not processing any permits until we reach Stage 4 in California’s reopening plan, which is contingent upon either herd immunity or having a COVID-19 vaccine widely available. Considering these roadblocks, our team has decided to postpone the Old Growth Classic until 2021 and instead focus our efforts on activities that have a clear path forward, like new trail development.

Every year, cyclists and outdoor lovers from across the golden state flock to Little Basin State Park for the competition and community that only the Old Growth Classic can deliver. In addition to a fun, challenging gravel race, the Old Growth Classic is also a fundraiser for MBOSC and CA State Parks.

To keep the spirit of the OGC alive, we're giving away prizes donated by our fabulous 2020 sponsors and raising funds to improve the parks and roads we rely on for competition, recreation, and meditation.

CA State Parks will use funds generated from this campaign to repair damage from the heavy 2017 storms on Gazos Creek Road in Big Basin State Park, which is a memorable part of the OGC race route. Our goal is $20,000, and we’ve pulled together a number of prizes from our top OGC sponsors to give away as a part of this campaign.

For every $5 you donate, you’re entered to win the prize of your choice, and if you donate a full race entry ($200) you get the best price per entry!

We understand that for many of you, Old Growth Classic was a major way that you plugged into MBOSC activities and financially supported our cause. We hope that you consider donating all or most of your normal race entry toward this 2-week fundraiser to keep local trails and state parks like Big Basin enjoyable and safe for all trail users.

The “Old Growth Classic Fundraiser" drawing is open to contestants worldwide.
The “Old Growth Classic Fundraiser" drawing is being conducted by Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz, Inc. (MBOSC), a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation under the laws of the State of California.
There is no limit to the number of tickets one (1) person may purchase.
MBOSC Employees, Board members and their spouses are not eligible to participate in this drawing.
Drawing tickets are $5.00 each. Drawing tickets can be purchased by credit card only.
By IRS declaration, ticket purchases for valuable prizes are not eligible for charitable tax deductions.
Odds of winning will depend on the number of tickets sold.

All ticket orders forms must be received with full payment no later than 11:59PM on July 27, 2020.

Drawing will be held at the MBOSC office in Santa Cruz, CA on July 28, 2020. The winner will be determined by random selection.
Winners will be notified by via phone and email within 1 day of the drawing.
The prize winners are solely responsible for all local, state and federal taxes, title, transfer fees, license duties, insurance and all expenses incurred in claiming the prize pack. The Prize winners understand, acknowledge, and agree that the winners are receiving a prize and will hereby release and discharge MBOSC, and any additional sponsors, their employees, agents, officers, directors and legal representatives and assigns from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses or expenses arising from or caused by the award of such prize, including, but not limited to the payment of any and all taxes that are due.
Prizse must be claimed by July 30, 2020. Any unclaimed prize after that date will constitute forfeiture and be transferred to MBOSC as a donation.
MBOSC, its Board of Directors, and its agents assume no liability for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, or entries without payment which will be deemed invalid and disqualified.
The decisions and rules of MBOSC are final on all matters concerning the drawing.

All write-in entries must be postmarked by July 20, 2020 and received by July 25, 2020. There is a limit of one (1) write-in entry per person.
